Corporate Social Innovation
Companies’ participation in solving global challenges
|
A new driver of innovation is found in the pursuit to do good (Corporate Social Innovation, CSI). Companies are increasingly realising that there is an economic perspective in participating in solving social and environmental problems. The companies see these problems as opportunities for creating new business concepts. Doing something good is being included into companies’ business models, enabling the companies to participate in solving global challenges as part of their business strategies while simultaneously creating profits. In order to obtain more in-depth information about the business community, we spoke to 10 companies and asked them how they work with corporate social innovation either in relation to environmental issues or social problems. Case studies are used to demonstrate the new trends. In each case study we describe a corporate social innovation project and highlight the new perspectives of company behaviour. |
