Yeosu 2012
EXPO 2012 is defined as a thematic international exhibition, regulated and approved by BIE, Bureau International des Expositions. The exhibition will take place in Yeosu, Korea in the period 12 May to 12 August, 2012, and it has the theme “The Living Ocean and Coast; Diversity of Resources and Sustainable Activities”.
The EXPO site covers a total area of 131,300 m2 at the Yeosu harbour area on the southeast coast of Korea.
Surrounded by Mt. Jonggo and Mt. Marae, and near Yeosu's major tourist attractions, Odong Island and Jasan Park, EXPO 2012 is situated at the intersection between the city and the scenic natural landscape.
The unique location is reflected and integrated in the design and construction of the EXPO site's trademarks, such as the Big-O placed in the harbour pool, the marine eco-park on the coast and the EXPO Digital Gallery in the city.
Furthermore, the site comprises of a number of thematic and private sponsor pavilions, as well as four pavilion complexes in two stories, wherein the country pavilions will be constructed, including the Danish.
The countries by the Atlantic Ocean will be housed in complex A and B, the countries by the Indian Ocean in C and the countries by the Pacific Ocean in D. Denmark's pavilion will be located in complex B.
The country pavilions shall integrate and interpret the core themes of the EXPO, notably the ocean and coast, and express the harmony between the land (city) and the sea, man and nature, and the past and future.
The Korean EXPO organisation expects participation from more than 100 countries and a total of 8 million visitors - out of which app. 750,000-800,000 people are expected to visit the Danish Pavilion.
