The A.P. Moller - Maersk Group is a global organisation with activities in shipping, energy, offshore, retail and industry. The Group has approximately 117,000 employees and offices in 130 countries.

A.P. Moller - Maersk has a long history in China. The Group's liner business, Maersk Line, first called China in 1924, and in 1928 the Company established its first service between the USA and the Far East calling Shanghai. Today, Maersk Line calls Chinese ports every day.

The Group's total activities in China presently comprise more than 100 representations in more than 40 Chinese cities. Maersk Logistics now have more than ten offices and the Group's port operator, APM Terminals, operates eight port terminals, while Maersk Container Industry produces containers and reefers at its factories in Qingdao and Dongguan.

In total, A.P. Moller - Maersk employs approximately 12,000 people in China, not including employees at the port terminals and joint ventures.
