Danish EXPO office in Shanghai opened
Denmark is now present in Shanghai with an office staffed with liaison officer Jing Ipland. Right now the office works as a centre for construction coordination, but this summer a Chinese communications officer will join the staff.
On New Year’s Day, the Danish EXPO Secretariat opened an office in downtown Shanghai. Within the framework of the activities of the Danish Innovation Centre in Shanghai, which is run by the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Jing Ipland has been appointed liaison officer, whose primary job for the time being is to support the EXPO Secretariat in Copenhagen in dealing with the Shanghai building authorities and the contractors involved in building the Danish EXPO pavilion.
Jing Ipland, who is married to a Dane, is a native Shanghainese who speaks Chinese, English and Danish.
“It’s beyond words to be given this fantastic opportunity of liaison officer for the Danish EXPO 2010 Secretariat in my hometown. I really enjoy my daily work at the office, but sometimes it can be quite challenging - especially to be bridging the two very different cultures of Denmark and China,” she says.
This summer, the office will be upgraded with a Chinese-speaking communications officer, to strengthen relations with the Shanghai media.
The Danish EXPO office is situated only 20 minutes by car from the EXPO area.
