Chinese journalists on tour in Denmark
A group of Chinese media representatives have taken a round trip to visit the national partners participating in the Danish EXPO 2010. The initiative has ensured that articles and news items about Danish competences within architecture, design and sustainability have found their way into the Chinese media.
A group of Chinese reporters and photographers recently made a short but high-efficient trip to Denmark. The group representing print and broadcast media in Shanghai and the Chinese national news agency Xinhua had been invited by the EXPO Secretariat of the Danish Enterprise and Construction Authority.

During their five-day stay, the news representatives visited national partners Realdania, A.P. Moller - Maersk, Grundfos, and Vestas. Furthermore, they paid a visit to the national partner Danish Agricultural Council’s three EXPO partners Carlsberg, Arla Foods, and Kopenhagen Fur. They also attended the press meeting hosted by Minister for Economic and Business Affairs Ms Lene Espersen where the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei was introduced as the artist behind a future installation to replace the Little Mermaid during EXPO Shanghai.
Moreover the Chinese reporters visited the Danish Architecture Centre and the Danish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. In addition, they were received at Copenhagen City Hall and, of course, given the opportunity to take a closer look at the statue of the Little Mermaid on the Copenhagen waterfront.
On the last day of the visit, the group went to Jutland and Funen where they visited the Jutlandic partners of the project and attended a reception at the City Hall of Odense – one of the cities to participate in the Urban Best Practice Area at EXPO 2010 Shanghai. In Odense, the Chinese group also paid a visit to the childhood home of fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen.
The group included Gu Xiling, TV reporter from ICS (International Channel Shanghai), Zhang Ying, senior photographer from ICS-TV, Qin Ling, editor/ journalist of the South Morning Post, Zhou Jun, journalist/director of the South Weekly, He Miao, Xinhua's correspondent in Stockholm, Sweden, and Li Bing from the EXPO communication centre in Shanghai.
